Sunday Sunday, you can trust that day....by gratitud-ing it.

Oh. Quiet Sunday! Ritual Sunday! It's 9AM and I'm in my robe waiting for Good Man Roger to come back up the mountain with the paper--so I can read the comics and the circulars (haw!). Then we'll have a speck of biscuit or maybe we'll get fancy schmancy and make french toast out of the bread he made (yup, he cooks! wheehaw! I'm spoilt.)
Look at that cartoon! Sometimes that's how I feel I am. Sometimes we become steeped in negative thinking. Well, when you think, actively THINK about what you are grateful for, no matter how small those things are, something magical happens.
Angie reminded me how I wanted to mention our YOG (no, I'm not either copy-catting!) Click HERE if you've ever a mind to go check out our 2008 daily Got YOG (year of gratitude) posts (along with a few guests)-sometimes it was hard to write them-sometimes we were angry, mad, sad, etc. But, those posts brought gratitude to us in unexpected ways. We wrote about losing our dog friend, losing someone we loved - or fearing that impending loss, about storms in life and in love and in nature, about the ironies of life and family, about friendships, about menopause, about wrinkles, about food and ritual, about time past and time to come.
The link, below, was my very first YOG that started out the year. Now y'all go have a great Sun'dy. What're you doing here? Go DO the day!

...I think of days when I was hungry, when I didn’t have enough money to pay the bills, when I had to decide between having enough gas to get to work or going to the doctor, when I cried in the closet so no one would see me weakened by worry. Gratitude is harder when there seems little to be thankful for—except for the act of living and breathing and surviving. And now? I pay my bills, there is food in the pantry, I go to the doctor if I am sick and have the gas to get there and back. My closet holds clothes and shoes, not a sobbing woman...
And - while you're still here~! -- go check out HANDS & HEARTS - Mónica Zúñiga is having a give-a-way contest of her breathtaking painting in celebration of her blog anniversary!

Hey, my mountain friend. We're on the very same wave length again. (Such a good feeling!) Just returned from getting a Sunday paper...something I have done in eons. The heft of it feels so nice. (Hope it ain't all bad politic news.)

I find myself missing our YOG posting and return often to refresh myself about just why we're here glued to this big glorious ball. And then I'm grateful again...even with the poop piles around me. :)

*hey, kimmi!*

Just having a lazy morning with my computer. Waiting for my men to return from camping with the scouts.
My trip to Gatlinburg was quite good yesterday. The river was frozen over in spots and had banks of snow - quite beautiful. It took an hour and 15 minutes so it is definitely do-able for us!

I've discovered complaints can be positive things if they are carried out in the right way - simply bringing to others attention things which may have escaped their notice can be done in a pleasnt manner, and a positive outcome always follows.

Wow that was beautiful.
I've never had to worry about those things and I'm scared to death of ever having to.

You are a strong woman, Kathryn!

I can't believe it took me this long to wander over here from the Windows Live Spaces world. This is a packed site and you already seem to have quite a following. Kudos.

Thanks for the link to Hands & Heart - I LOVE her work! Also, re: gratitude, this showed up in my in-box this morning (I get daily Kabbalah Tune-Ups - sometimes they're amazing like this one.)

It's not all that difficult to be spiritual when you are feeling spiritual. But when the you- know-what hits the fan, that's the test. Just as in love, it's not about how much you love someone when you love them, it's about how much you love them when you hate them.

Today - and always - take time when things are smooth to ask the Light for the strength to handle things "lightly" when things are rocky. Can you walk the walk even when the path becomes bumpy? Can you talk the talk when you're on the verge of tears?

I've made the move. I now read my Sunday paper on my laptop. We live on a private lane that turns into a skating rink in the winter. I got tired of waiting until the guaranteed delivery time and sliding down there only to find my delivery person apparently slept in. Working the mouse while eating breakfast is a little more tricky, but no more having to prop my paper up against the fruit bowl and having it annoyingly slip down ever so slowly. Better yet, I get to leave comments on those editorials that get me angry.

I try to keep my life seeped in graditude but the ugliness of negative thinking or complaining does creep in. On the days that pain so over welms me or I just want a quiet moment to myself, I still try to see something I am grateful for. Once I start, the door opens up to more gratefulness then I thought was there.
Thank you for reminding me to continue choosing this path!

"What're you doing here? Go DO the day!"

YIPES! Okay I'm out of here!

But can I just stay long enough to say I was very moved by your post?

Thank's y'all - *smiling* - of course, part of my "doing" the day will be to come visit you all *laugh*!

But the door is open - yes, it is almost like a spring day in february! and the creek is singing loud and the chimes are dingling...ahhhh!

I'm reading your comments and smiling - and feeling very warm.

great words ( again) Kathryn, I am a total avocate of developing a GRATIUDE ATTITUDE- you are quite right- when in gratitude, magic does happen.

I LIKE THE IDEA OF THE TRAVELING FRIENDSHIP BALL.

Gratitude is a gift we give ourselves in a sense. Recently as I've been exploring some painful situations in my writing I have, without exception, been able to find a blessing in each situation. It's all a matter of choice.

P.S. I like the idea of the travelling friendship ball as well!

SO true! "In everything give thanks" Btw, love your friendship ball idea. How cool!

I loved your post especially the weeping in the closet! Why--that's where I have spent many moments too. Why is the closet the place women go to cry? LOL I have my blessing sheet now and find something each day to be thankful for.

So, so true, those days of worry over choice. I'm not too far removed from my own such experiences, and it does make one more appreciative of today. Great post!

And I LOVE the idea of passing the Friendship Ball around. Brilliant!
