Oh the sounds of (almost) silence....

Usually Fridays are "links days" - but, I'm too distracted to provide links, and I suppose I've been doing that a lot anyway (um, mostly for my own stuff...teeheehee *blush* ugh, hard part for a writer is the touting-happy part is the talking about books, language, writing). Oh, but did you read Angie's and my time together? That was fun.

It's raining outside. I'd wanted to sleep late this morning, but the red squirrels would have none of it. They chattered and fussed and complained out at the squirrel feeder. I wrapped my pillow around my head - no use. Finally, I just got up and fed the little greedy things. Did that stop their chatter? Nope, now they are fussing to see who gets on the feeder and who has to wait their turn.

But the rain has gently come and now they aren't fussing as much. The birds aren't singing either.

It's quiet. A muffled morning. As if a giant hand has cupped over the cove.

My brain is a bit muffled, too. So I can't think what I came here to tell you. Maybe nothing. Maybe I'm just saying hello to you all. I come here every morning because it starts my day. Actually, I go to my hotmail account first and read comments - I look forward to that. I miss stopping by to visit you all--but, now is the time I have to keep my head down and write the second VKbook - especially since I deleted all those words.

I have another novel that is completed - did you know that? But, I don't want to put it in front of the VKbook 2 - it's hard not to send it in and see if it could be published. But, I know my focus is VK right now and that's how I need to keep it. But one day maybe you all will also be reading "The Affliction of Sweetie." *smiling* I have another one in the works that I will one day get back to as well - it's between fiction and not-exactly-fiction...

Enough babbling. Time to sip my Deep Creek Blend, take Jake on a short cove walk, and then get to work.

I know I keep saying it, but all of your words and encouragement and reviews and comments mean so much to me. Thank you. I'll have another "presenting...." either tomorrow or Sunday.

Don't forget to send me a photo of you reading Tender Graces! Also, above you can see the book give-away if you send me your email address to be put on BelleBooks newsletter mailing list. Of course, you don't have to be in the book give-away to sign up for their newsletter, I just thought that would be more fun. I have those books to give away still and needed an idea for a contest that wouldn't distract me from the writing! A random drawing seemed simple enough.

I seem not to want to let you all go this morning - there is something I meant to say, perhaps? and have forgotten? or my brain is foggy this morning. Something....
Oh, the silence. If you could "hear' the silence of the cove this morning but for the bursts of squirrel madness and now suddenly the rainfall quickens in that roar across the cove and even the squirrels have stopped: one lone bird chirps then stops. The rain falls hard and determined now. The distant mountains are wavery and almost hidden. The lone bird is still chirping. The little log house is darkened. I should go back to bed, but I cannot. I feel as if I'm on the edge of something that is about to happen....yes, that is my feeling! I think that's it -- as if I am right there at the edge of something...

Good morning, dear friend. The pounding rain woke me up. Then, I somehow managed to mangle my left shoulder just by getting dressed. Getting older is so much fun (she says sarcastically).
Looks like we are going to be socked in with this rain for many days. Maybe it will be conducive to VK making fast progress!
Have a great day.

Good Morning hun! I hope the rest of your day will be as lovely as the start to your morning. My two and I beat the sun up this morning and it was a treat to be out watering my plants and lawn as the sun peeked it's firey head over the horizon. Now though barren clouds have once more blanketed the sky and even if the birds all send up songs for rain...we still haven't gotten it. Oh well! Have a great rest of the day!

Good morning, Kathryn. Your morning sounds dreamy. I'm looking out at warm yellow-green sunshine (partly because there's a forsythia bush in front of the window). It seems spring has really arrived this time. We're expecting rain on the weekend, but people are planting their gardens, reasonably confident that it won't freeze again this season. Life is good.

Hey Kat - please add my e-mail to Bellebooks newsletter and the book giveaway!

I love that feeling of being on the edge of something . . . that not knowing and then . . . surprise, delight! Enjoy!

We won't get rain often now in Cyprus, nor do we have the squirrels. We do have cockerals that can't tell the time and rattling tractoria with little old villagers trundling by before sun up!
Good Luck with the next book, I am still determined to get mine written :)

I like to read your ramblings...like to read of your quiet moments there in your mountain. You describe it so well that it almost feels like I could be there. Oh how I would love to be sitting on your front porch with a hot cup of coffee. Have a wonderful weekend Kat.

I know that edge-of-something feeling oh so well these days. So cool that you have another book done. You didn't ask for advice, but I would really like to have more of your writing to read while I'm waiting for more of VK's story.
