Can't Get No...internet connection - and I try and I try and I try, but can't go no....no no OH NO!

I'm hoping my connection lasts long enough to write this post! So, you know you are a full-blown nettie-addict when your internet connection is out on day two (or only works when it feels like it for a minute or two) and you either walk about dazed mumbling and grumbling, or are on the phone saying, "I DON'T CARE IF YOU SAY I HAVE A STRONG CONNECTION, MY INTERNET CONNECTION IS NOT WORKING - I NEED MY INTERNET--GIVE ME MY INTERNET - FIX IT FIX IT FIX IT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW FOR A TECHNICIAN--?? I'VE BEEN WITHOUT INTERNET FOR 24-HOURS! THIS IS DAY TWO....AUUUGGHHHHHH!" and then try begging and cajoling, "I have chocolate...lots of it...you want some chocolate don't you? Or does your technician like beer? wine? how about my firstborn? ....pleasssse pleeeeaasseee...fix my net! pllleeeaaseee...I beg of you..."

So, in the hopes this post will go through, I want to thank y'all for stopping by - I was able to read a few of the comments before my "nettie" went dead again (oh heavy sigh, oh lamentable laments!) And, I will be back to visiting and posting as soon as we figure out this problem ("It's your router ma'am" -- No, no no, not my wireless router, I checked... "But ma'am, we are getting a strong signal..." I know, that's what's funny, but it's not getting to my computer... "But ma'am, blah blah blah blah bladdity bluh blah..." ARGH!

Don't forget to guess the jellybeans (Angie thinks of the most fun kinds of contests!) to win Deb Leblanc's Water Witch.

Aren't we creatures of the net now? Creatures that must be hooked up to Things? The only good part of this is I was able to work on the draft of my second novel without any distractions.

*sob* My nettie...my poor nettie - how I miss you!

Oh! I may have a connection now...we have a technician here for an unrelated matter and he fiddled with something...and...and - Do you think he'll freak out if I run up to him and hug him and kiss him and ... I guess I shouldn't do that; I guess a simple Thank You will be enough.
Today I was going to post a photo my brother sent me - but I'll do that tomorrow. There's a "mystery" to it I can't figure out and I'm hoping someone out there can tell me what it's about.

Glad I'm not the only one having problems! I thought it was my A'OL, and it could be. Driving me batty!

Hope you get your net back soon, Kathryn. Technical withdrawl can really hurt! (been there....done that....) I don't know how I lived without the internet!

Oh, I've been there, and nothing makes me crankier. What did writers do, seriously, before the internet?

Glad you're back up and running!

OMG you had me laughing so hard on that. I'm totally in the same bad way, completely addicted to blogging and checking agent sites and it's just out of control. I start getting twitchy if I have to go a day without. In fact I'm at work now and you see where I am. It's bad. I did actually write my first book before getting on the internet, and shockingly enough was very productive. I actually wrote every night and never had to get online. I also knew nothing of rules and guidelines and therefore ended up with a 219000 wc beast that I had to gut the hell out of. So being productive and not internet-ing is not always a good thing!! :)

Lol. Heehee, what I hate is when I get a tech named Gary in Tidbloduwuck India, telling me nothing is wrong. And it only takes me twenty minutes to understand his language!

Okay, 218 jelly beans in jar! :)

Yeah, LOL I have firmly educated myself on the ways of routers, modems, firewalls and the way they effect my computer and my lovely internet. Simply because I hate waiting for the technician to come fix it. I would rather just fix it myself. I hope yours stays up and running :D

I LOVE YOUR NEW BLOG!!! :) And the excerpt from your book is the best teaser ... can't wait for it to come out!!! I wonder if I'll be able to pick up a signed copy by the author ... perhaps at Malaprops? :)

Is everyone in the world having internet problems? For the last few nights, our connection has been "wiggen out". We've been getting error messages that I've never seen before. Usually turning off the darn thing, and waiting until the next day, works but ... talk about serious withdrawal. It forced me to ... clean (oh ick, ick and yulk).

Glad you're back up and running and glad you're here at blogspot. Oh ... my jellybean guess is: 162

Angie, Janna, and Linda -Tell me about it - withdraaawwallllssss...but, I think I'm back now! yayy!

Sharla! I was the same way! I didn't blog, I rarely was online other than "research" for the novel - and I had a 200,000 plus manuscript *laughing* plus, I wrote a 75,000 novel in 30 days....yup, lil ole me! Well, I divided the 200,000 ms into two books, which became the Tender Graces VK book....now, well, I still get my writing in, but...teehee

Kimmi ...Is that a real place? (laughing)

And like you, Jenn, I know enough to sometimes fix it myself, but like Small Footprints said, it's something here in the mountains messing up...our high winds and storms I bet!

(and SF -- I can't wait to do a signing at Malaprops! I hope they are up to it!)

Hi Connie - I'll come read the story!

“Have you tried switching it off & then on again?” – I shouldn’t be revealing trade secrets, but this is the first line in the technicians bible of every err... technician (excluding nail technicians of course).

I [meaning, a certain she prefers that I] limit my blogging activities to one day a week but my jelly-bean-dar [I invent new words all the time] navigated me here to have a guess at 207.

gana --thank you! I think I fixed it....it seems to be working now!

tim - yup, did all the switching on and off and unplugging router and plugging and blah blahdity blah blah! Eventually something worked! Glad your jelly-bean-dar sent you here *teehee*

Kat: It was just this morning that I was thinking about the woes I have had trying to get to your Blog for a post. Blogrolling is still down (since early October) and I will change your pointer to this Blog address! I feel your pain after three weeks without a Laptop (avoid Vista like the plague). lol!!!:D)

My heat pump went out this afternoon and we managed to sweet talk the guy into coming out 15 minutes before he was supposed to close (who closes at 4:00 in this economy? But, I digress). Anyway, as you know since you live across the mountain from me, it is supposed to be very cold the next few days. I would have kissed him in a heartbeat for fixing that thing!

Jessica - Lawd yeah!

Hi Michael! *muwah!*

Gawd Yes Debbie - it's so still outside right now, as if waiting for that blast that's coming!

kimmi -- I wish I could find the original jpeg of that photo - more people comment on that thing! I did that with a self timer on my lil camera. Hmm, maybe I can recreate it... !

Have you ever read Ring World by Larry Niven? I swear I am a wirehead. The internet stimulates the pleasure centers in my brain, and I don't care if I eat, pee or have sex as long as my internet is working.

Oh and forget chocolate, wine and beer. I'm pushing 50 and wear a size 2-Big. I threaten to have sex with the techs unless they plug me back in.
